EDUCATION+ Project: The VISSIN foundation meets the leaders of selected neighborhoods in the Godomey district
Enabling children from disadvantaged backgrounds to build a better future is the fundamental reason that justifies the initiative taken by the VISSIN Foundation to provide schooling for underprivileged children aged 4 to 12 in primary schools. The first step planned in this context is the selection of children from the four departments (Atlantic, Ouémé, Borgou and Zou) targeted for the experimental phase of this project. For the Atlantic, it is the district of Godomey of the Commune of Abomey-Calavi which was chosen. To this end, several delegations composed of members of the Executive Board of the Foundation and volunteers went to meet some Heads of neighborhoods of the district of Godomey, 09, 10 and 11 August 2018.
All in all, the local elected representatives have joined the project and have committed themselves to support the various actions in the direction of this objective. Measuring the seriousness of the extreme poverty in which the populations live and the social cases they face daily in the exercise of their function, local elected representatives encouraged the VISSIN Foundation to keep in mind the priestly mission that it assigned herself. For them, the support of people for a breath of relief is more than ever necessary. And the schooling component of children is of paramount importance to guarantee a future much more certain to them.
The exercise was the same in Abomey, commune selected in the Zou in the day of Friday, August 10, 2018. At each visit, the delegations have left a dozen information sheets available to the district chiefs who took on them to help identify the children who will benefit from this project.
For the first phase, ten children will be supported directly by the President and Founder of the Foundation and dozens more by the partners.
In addition, it should be noted that these various visits have enabled the district chiefs to be informed of the VISSIN Foundation’s various activities focused on education, health, support for poor women, hygiene, sanitation and hygiene. and many others. Briefly, the aim of the VISSIN Foundation is to promote the development of society, especially the most underprivileged, through social works.
